If you have cracked or chipped teeth but find that it is hard to fit into your daily schedule at the bottom of your priority list of things to fix. Traditional dental crowns may make you arrange multiple appointments with a dental professional; and it is often difficult to find the time to fit this into your busy life.Fortunately at Center for Dental Anesthesia Orlando, Florida dentists,Dr. Lawrence Duffy offers same day dental crowns utilizing CEREC® technology that saves you time and money.
Traditional Dental Crowns
When a tooth has been broken or chipped to the point that it needs fixing, conventional dental crowns are a helpful choice. If you opt for conventional crowns, your first visit to the dental crown is used to prepare the tooth. Once the tooth is ready a temporary crown is put in an off-site laboratory before a new one can be made.
You come back to the office after about two weeks, to get your permanent crown put. The temporary crown is removed, and the permanent structure is created, which will remain stable if properly cared for.
So, What Are the Benefits of CEREC®?
CEREC® technology allows for the doctor to make the permanent dental crown right in the office. This means that you don’t need a second appointment and you only must find time in one day to get your broken, chipped or decayed teeth fixed.
Once the tooth is prepped, an optical impression of the tooth is taken. A camera is used to create a digital picture of the tooth that is then sent to the 3D CEREC® software. Very quickly, the machine creates a dental crown that matches the rest of your teeth and fits securely in your mouth.
